My new home in Wildschönau
A tiny idyllic landscape with farmhouses, as if simply tossed into a grandiose panoramic setting. The Wildschönau deserves its name- wild and beautiful at the same time. Tom, my mountain guide, smiles mischievously: “Do you like it up here?”
Yes, I do like it! In fact, I like it so much that I moved my primary residence to this location and turned my back on the Viennese urban jungle. This beautiful valley with its old farms, traditional garments, folk costumes, clubs and the famous Krautinger beet schnapps.
Here in the Tyrolean Alps is my new home, or as the locals say “Mei Dahoam”.
When my husband and I found our country house with fantastic views over the wide valley of the Wildschönau in Tyrol / Austira, it not only became our new home, but also my new source of inspiration for my professional future.
I started furnishing our house with natural materials such as wood and natural stones. I then started looking for accessories to match this noble Tyrolean country-style house. I wanted knitted decorative cushions with that certain something, but I couldn’t find them anywhere, be it in furniture stores or at interior decorators. As a trained textile designer, I ended up designing them myself.
Knitting and fulling are my areas of expertise. I constantly try out new colors, patterns and materials for my hand-knitted sofa and decorative pillows. When a sketch is ready, I create an accurate knitting template for my seamstresses, so that they can breathe life into my climbers, ski guides, deer and cows.
